The series showcases works by Arab artists under the age of 40 whose artistic practice shows considerable promise. 40 Minus encourages young artists, giving them the opportunity of having a professional exhibition working with a skilled curator.
For this edition we present the exhibition “Urban Perspectives,” featuring works by Mubarak Al-Thani and Rim Albahrani. In this exhibition both artists have created works that reacting to the multifaceted experience of living in cities.
Rim Albahrani is a Swedish-Iraqi artist born in Aman, Jordan. In her artistic practice, Albahrani employs a multitude of diverse techniques and mediums. Her abstract depictions of cities and houses question the meaning of home in the face of a diasporic existence. Through her artwork she challenges the discourse of belonging and 'un-belonging' looking at the ever-evolving definition of 'home.'
Mubarak Al-Thani (B. 1989) is a multi-disciplinary artist from Doha, Qatar. Al-Thani's artistic practice, centers primarily in painting, sculpture and photography, exploring themes of urban living and infrastructure. He creates frenetic rhythms using a vibrant color palette that vividly captures the energy of a buzzing metropolis. Exhibition runs until Jue 2024
