40 Minus Volume 8 | Part 1 - 'Urban Perspectives', An exhibition by Qatari artist Mubarak Al-Thani and Iraqi artist...

The series showcases works by Arab artists under the age of 40 whose artistic practice shows considerable promise. 40 Minus encourages young artists, giving them the opportunity of having a professional exhibition working with a skilled curator.

For this edition we present the exhibition “Urban Perspectives,” featuring works by Mubarak Al-Thani and Rim Albahrani. In this exhibition both artists have created works that reacting to the multifaceted experience of living in cities.

Rim Albahrani is a Swedish-Iraqi artist born in Aman, Jordan. In her artistic practice, Albahrani employs a multitude of diverse techniques and mediums. Her abstract depictions of cities and houses question the meaning of home in the face of a diasporic existence.  Through her artwork she challenges the discourse of belonging and 'un-belonging' looking at the ever-evolving definition of 'home.'

Mubarak Al-Thani (B. 1989) is a multi-disciplinary artist from Doha, Qatar. Al-Thani's artistic practice, centers primarily in painting, sculpture and photography, exploring themes of urban living and infrastructure. He creates frenetic rhythms using a vibrant color palette that vividly captures the energy of a buzzing metropolis. Exhibition runs until Jue 2024
