Stories shape our understanding of the world, bridging memory, emotion, and imagination. Telling Tales brings together four artists who transform the power of storytelling into compelling visual narratives. Through distinct artistic approaches, they explore how literature and personal narratives manifest in visual form.
Stories shape our understanding of the world, bridging memory, emotion, and imagination. Telling Tales brings together four artists—Hassan Manasrah, Lina Alaali, Reem Al Askari, and Salem Mathkour—who transform the power of storytelling into compelling visual narratives. Through distinct artistic approaches, they explore how literature and personal narratives manifest in visual form.
Alaali and Al Askari create original stories that inform their artworks, while Mathkour and Manasrah reinterpret existing literature, offering new perspectives on written tales. Each artist employs a unique medium in the making of their work using a wide range of materials from acrylic and oil painting, mixed-media works, as well as refined graphic techniques—translating words into striking visual experiences.
Through the interplay of text and image, Telling Tales invites viewers into a realm where storytelling transcends language, unfolding through brushstrokes, textures, and symbols. This exhibition explores the infinite ways narratives take shape—written, painted, or imagined—blurring the lines between words and visual expression.
