al markhiya gallery is honored to present TRANSPARENCY, an exhibition showcasing the works of two prominent contemporary Moroccan artists, Hakim Ghazali and Khalid El Bekay. This exhibition explores the intersection of traditional Moroccan art and contemporary global perspectives through the distinctive approaches of these two artists.

Hakim Ghazali
Born in Casablanca, Hakim Ghazali’s artistic journey began in Quranic school, where he cultivated an early appreciation for line, form, and color. Further training in graphic design and printing in Amiens and Paris deepened his fascination with the morphology of letters—their form, structure, and visual design. This exploration of text and typography informs his work, which often delves into themes of cultural identity, spirituality, and the balance between tradition and modernity.
Khalid El Bekay
Also born in Casablanca, Khalid El Bekay is a multidisciplinary artist whose career spans over three decades. Deeply rooted in his Moroccan heritage, El Bekay has developed a unique artistic language enriched by diverse cultural influences. His works, characterized by the innovative use of torn and layered paper in vibrant colors, transform everyday objects into icons and metaphors. This synthesis of tradition and personal expression offers a compelling narrative of cultural convergence and artistic evolution.
The exhibitionTRANSPARENCY presents a dynamic selection of works by Ghazali and El Bekay, each exploring depth, color, and space in innovative ways. Through calligraphy, collage, assemblage, and conceptual art, the exhibition invites viewers to engage with themes of identity, spirituality, and the interplay of traditional and contemporary art forms.
