Sometimes circumstances bring us numerous challenges, that cause us to forget our limits and capabilities. We often ignore concepts of time and even years in our pursuit of something we can be proud of. We work tirelessly to realise our dreams and desires, despite illusions and wishes..

Muhyee Al Deen Al labad
Cairo - October 1993

Qatari artist Salman Al-Malek is a versatile artist, he is recognised as a talented photographer, painter, caricaturist, printing director, designer, and contemporary mark-making craftsman. Throughout his career, Al-Malek has shown himself to be a master of various disciplines, utilizing his distinctive creative voice to address a broad spectrum of subjects.

Though his multidisciplinary arts practice, Al-Malek has expanded the boundaries of artistic expression, producing unprecedented works of art. Moreover, his exceptional talent for creating bold yet sensitive compositions has paved the way for new generations, inspiring them to explore their own creative potential.  Using only simple tools, Al-Malek adeptly resolves contradictions in color, paint, and graphic design. His artworks, characterized by the perfect balance of passion and consciousness, serve as a reflection of this harmonious integration.

Born in Doha, Qatar in 1958, Al-Malek earned his Batchelor’s Degree in Education and Arts in Cairo in 1982. Since then, his work has been exhibited locally and internationally in prestigious institutions such as Insitut du Monde Arab in Paris (2007 & 2008), the Bangladesh Biennale in Dhaka (2009), and the Istanbul Museum of Art (2015).

Noteworthy installations include his vibrant sculpture commemorating the Al Jassasiya Rock Art Site in 2022. His works have been acquired by significant collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Mathaf – Arab Museum of Contemporary Art, the Arab Bank, Qatar National Bank and the National Museum of Qatar.
