Rooted in Resilience

This exhibition brings together a new series of paintings where portraits of women are intertwined with architectural forms, fruits, animals, and script, blending the intimate with the communal, the personal body with the social body. Houses appear as crowns, fruits as adornments, and encounters between women and animals as tender exchanges. These motifs resonate with Hiary’s long-standing focus on resilience, but here they carry a fresh, celebratory, and almost mythic quality.

Hiary’s layered visual language — merging abstraction, expressionism, and folk-inflected motifs — infuses each work with contrasts: fragility and strength, tenderness and defiance, memory and transformation. Architectural structures press against organic forms, script-like marks echo the rhythms of oral history, and vivid color shifts between darkness and light.

Taken together, the works imagine resilience not only as survival, but as a generative force, one that crowns, nourishes, and sustains. They present women as both witnesses and creators, guardians of memory and agents of renewal, whose presence bridges the terrains of the individual and the collective.
