Provenance

This artwork was part of  the second chapter in a series of exhibitions titled, Paths.  For this edition, it presents a unique collection of works crafted by master contemporary artists working with watercolour.

In speaking about their creative practice, all four participating artists (Dr. Abdalla M. Assaad, Husni Abukrayyiem, Salem Mathkour, and Zaid Alzaidy) has a profound personal connection to the natural world, and the vital need for humanity to realign with nature.  Issues of heritage and culture are also present in their work, as they question how they play a significant role in creating the building blocks of identity, using watercolor as the main medium , an ancient tool, dating back to early cave paintings of palaeolithic Europe and manuscript illustration.  Pigments are suspended in a water-based solution and the process of creation is very slow and time consuming. Using this method, the artists allow history and water to come together, providing a connection to the natural world.
