Alanoud Al-Buainain is a Qatari artist and curator born in 1989 in Doha, Qatar. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the School of Visual Arts in New York (2017) and a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Northeastern University, Boston (2011). Al-Buainain’s practice spans various media and focuses on themes such as identity, cultural narratives, and personal experiences within the contemporary context of Qatar and the wider Gulf region.
Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, both locally and internationally, including Pearls of Wonder at Art Field Nanhai, Foshan City, China (2024), and at the Qatar America Institute for Culture in Washington, D.C. (2023). Other notable exhibitions include Qatar Football History at Doha Sports Stadium (2022). Al-Buainain’s work has also been displayed in prominent venues such as Lavan541, New York (2021), and al markhiya gallery at the Fire Station, Doha (2021).
In addition to her artistic practice, Al-Buainain has contributed to the curation of exhibitions. She organized Connection al markhiya gallery in 2021 and co-curated On Paper at Gallery 4, Fire Station in 2019. Her curatorial efforts also include Here There at Gallery Alriwaq, Doha (2014) and the solo exhibition Yousef Ahmad: Story of Ingenuity at QM Gallery Katara, Doha (2014).
Through her work and curatorial projects, Alanoud Al-Buainain continues to engage with the evolving cultural landscape of Qatar, fostering connections between tradition and modernity while addressing broader global issues in art.
