A founding member of the Qatari Fine Arts Society in 1980, Al-Mulla served as its second president and has been a key figure in the development of cultural institutions in Qatar, including the Department of Culture and Arts. He has exhibited widely, with solo shows in Qatar, India, and Saudi Arabia, and has participated in major exhibitions such as Lived Forward: Art and Culture in Doha (1960–2020) and Abstraction: Subverting Reality at the Fire Station. His work is held in the collections of Qatar Museums, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, and various Qatari ministries and embassies.
Beyond his artistic contributions, Al-Mulla has been dedicated to arts education, teaching painting at Qatar University and serving as vice president of the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs.
