Wafika Sultan is a pioneering Qatari artist and one of the first women in Qatar to study and practice art. She earned a BA in Applied Art from Helwan University in 1975 and co-founded the Qatari Fine Arts Association in 1980.
Recognized as the Best Qatari Artist at the Arab Women’s Award in 2014, her contemporary, symbolism-rich work explores the tensions between modernity and tradition, drawing from Qatari folklore and proverbs. She works primarily in mixed media, emphasizing women’s presence in Qatari culture.
