Mahmoud Almasri Palestine, b. 1952

Mahmoud Ibrahim Almasri (b. 1952) is a Palestinian painter and sculptor whose work reflects a profound engagement with heritage, identity, and the vitality of everyday life. Born in Homs, Syria, he is a graduate of Damascus University with a BFA in Sculpture (1977), he has since developed a distinct practice that bridges academic rigor and personal history.

Trained as a sculptor, Almasri’s paintings reveal his sculptor’s eye through bold lines, fractured planes, and luminous colours that animate his figures with rhythm and depth. Rooted in the tradition of Arab modernism, his work blends figurative abstraction, Cubist structure, and Expressionist intensity with cultural and folkloric motifs

A member of the General Union of Palestinian Plastic Artists, the Association of Syrian Fine Arts, and the Qatar Fine Arts Society, Almasri continues to affirm cultural identity while engaging with modernist innovation, securing his place as vital voice in contemporary Arab art.
