Fatma Al Shebani Qatar, 1971

Fatma Al Shebani is a pioneering contemporary artist from Qatar, recognized for her multidisciplinary practice in painting, sculpture, video art, and conceptual installations. With over two decades of experience, she has established herself as a leading figure in the Gulf’s contemporary art scene.
A graduate of Qatar University with a degree in Fine Art, Al Shebani draws inspiration from her environment and cultural heritage, merging traditional geometric motifs with contemporary techniques. Her work explores abstraction through painting, printmaking, kinetic art, and digital media, expanding the boundaries of modern artistic expression. She believes that visual art can shape broader societal conversations, influencing perspectives on education, technology, climate change, and social dynamics.
Al Shebani’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the Arabischen Kulturhaus DER DIVAN in Berlin, and the MENA Art Fair in Paris, as well as in major exhibitions in London and Doha. In 2022, she unveiled Ring Love, a public sculpture at St. Regis, Marsa Arabia in Doha. Her paintings and sculptures are held in significant private and institutional collections, and she was awarded the Doha Cultural Festival Prize in 2005 in recognition of her contributions to the arts.
Beyond her artistic career, Al Shebani is known as an educator, activist, and poet, continuously pushing the boundaries of creative expression while introducing new ideas and aesthetics to audiences worldwide.
