Fatma Al Remaihi Qatar, 1986

Fatma Al-Remaihi is a Qatari artist who works in sketchbooking, drawing and painting. She holds a master’s in studio art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2016) and a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from VCUarts Qatar (2010).

Fatma’s current body of work is deeply autobiographical, exploring themes of identity, agency and the multiple roles she navigates in life, such as those of a woman, daughter, sister, friend, employee, citizen, housekeeper and caregiver. Through her art, she poetically reflects on the complexities of these roles and their intersection within her personal experience. Her work is a continuous exploration of the self, capturing both the nuances and challenges of navigating social expectations while asserting personal agency.
